Pressure Equipment Classification and Inspection

CLASSIFICATION AND INSPECTION OF PRESSURE EQUIPMENT

Classification of pressure equipment involves determining the category of the equipment (Category I–IV), which is carried out according to the type of pressure equipment, the fluid group, and the operating and design characteristics of the equipment, in accordance with the requirements of the Regulation on inspections of pressure equipment during its service life.

When submitting an Application for classification, the user/owner of the pressure equipment is required to provide:

  • Documents certifying the conformity of the pressure equipment with the essential requirements laid down in the technical regulations that prescribe the technical requirements for pressure equipment;
  • Technical documentation obtained from the manufacturer of the pressure equipment in question;
  • Design documentation of the technological unit in which the pressure equipment in question is located;
  • Proof of ownership

Upon completion of the classification, the user or owner of the equipment is issued a Record Sheet, as defined by the Regulation on inspections of pressure equipment during its service life.

Conformity assessment of pressure equipment

The notified body verifies whether the pressure equipment meets the requirements of the Regulation on pressure equipment, according to the defined modules listed in the Regulation on pressure equipment. In the case of conformity assessment for simple pressure vessels, the procedure will be carried out on the basis of the Regulation on simple pressure vessels. The process of conformity assessment of pressure equipment begins with the receipt of a written Application for conformity assessment (IB CenterAI-OBR-OU.ZH), which the applicant submits for the pressure equipment along with the accompanying documentation. Accompanying documentation refers to the technical documentation of the pressure equipment. The applicant submits an Application for conformity assessment of pressure equipment containing information on:
- The applicant;
- The status of the applicant in relation to the product for which conformity assessment is carried out (manufacturer, importer, authorized representative);
- The authorized representative, if they are the one submitting the Application;
- The name and technical data of the product whose conformity is being assessed;
- The name of the technical regulation on the basis of which conformity assessment is requested;
- The module according to which the conformity assessment is carried out;
- The submitted documentation.
If the conformity assessment procedure has been carried out in full and successfully, the notified conformity assessment body IB CenterAI will issue a conformity document. Depending on the module according to which the conformity assessment was carried out, IB CenterAI completes and issues to the applicant one of the following conformity documents:
- Type Examination Certificate (if conformity assessment is carried out under module B);
- Design Examination Certificate (if conformity assessment is carried out under module B1);
- Certificate of Conformity (if conformity assessment is carried out under module B+F, B1+F, or G).
